About Community Development 



The Community Development Department administers  the federal Community Development Block Grant Program (CDBG) and HOME Investment Partnership program funds.  These are federal funds distributed by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) on an annual basis to eligible communities.

The CDBG program funds a wide range of community development activities directed towards neighborhood revitalization, affordable housing, economic development, and the provision of improved community facilities and services.  All programs and projects must benefit low and moderate income persons.

CDBG projects include:

  • Environmental Clean-ups
  • Parks
  • Public infrastructure
  • Human Service activities including After-school programs, Job training and Elder Services

The HOME projects include:

  • Homebuyer Assistance Programs
  • Housing Improvement Programs
  • Rental Projects
